USB Keyboard and Mouse

ok, I am a new Linux user, or at least soon to be. I am working on installing 7.2, after the system boots and just when it enters the gui stage it asks what language you want to use. I can't do anything though because, or at least this is the way it seems, my keyboard doesn't work. It wont allow me to advance past that screen or select any options. Is there a way to install a driver, if so where can I get a driver. Any information would be very helpful.

Most motherboards will see a USB input device and emulate it as a standard keyboard/mouse. THis should get you through the setup.

You may want to enable some kernel features which enable the USB stuff. Not being on a linux rig right now I can't offer any specifics. :(

usb keyboard

I have the usb keyboard enabled through the mobo, so I can't figure out what is going on.

i know this sounds stupid, but i'd suggest trying to do a text install... it might be a graphical module that won't load the usb keyboard driver. it doesn't seem that likely, but it's possible. it's also possible that having the motherboard emulate the usb keyboard as a serial keyboard could be causing the problem. you might want to try letting linux detect it as a usb device instead of a serial emulation.

failing all else, you might want to try suse. their install seems somewhat more robust than redhat's. i hate recommending a change of distros, but if you can't get linux installed in the first place, there's not much else you can do to fix it.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will give it a try.
