usb - audio problem

Hi everyone,

I have the latest alsa version in my Debian system, and the Sound Blaster Extigy sound card. Guess what the problem is...

...I can't make them work together!!

I was using the kernel 2.4 and the card was working with the arts output but not with ALSA. When I compiled a new kernel 2.6.8 I realised that arts is not working either. When I boot on KDE I take an arts message that sais /dev/dsp was not found (and null is going to be used). I have followed the steps that the official ALSA site provides for usb audio devices but when the time comes to run the alsamixer I always get the annoying message: alsacontrol : Device Not Found.

Any help is appresiated....

I had faced the same problems to get ALSA going on my system.. Try recompiling the kernel with ALSA built-in [Y] and the alsa drivers for your sound card as modules[M]. And make sure you load the module[Driver for the soundcard at startup]..

Hi,

What you suggested will take me some time to do (reconfiguring, recompiling and making the kernel bootable), so I will give you the results tommorow.

Thanks for your help and reply
