Upgrading to mySQL 4.x on SusE Linux
Hi -
I'm running SuSE 8.2 (and, for several reasons, I can't upgrade to 9.1 at the moment). I want to install a package that needs mySQL 4.x, but SuSE 8.2 ships with mySQL 3.23.
What's the best way to upgrade? Use SuSE's Yast2? Or just rebuild and install mySQL 4.x - and any dependencies, such as PHP and Apache - myself?
Also: does SuSE give any guidance for making packages you install manually known to the YAST software configuration database?
Thanx in advance .. PSM
