Question Upgrading from FC6 to FC9

Hey guys,

I'm not THAT well versed in Linux, but I know enough to get myself in trouble sometimes ). That being said, I tried to do an upgrade from FC6 to FC9 via yum. Everything seems to run smoothly, all the headers downloaded and were readied to install. But nothing seemed like it's taking. When booting I do not get the kernel version for FC9, it's still giving my FC6. But in the boot log, it says I'm running FC9 Sulphur. Anyway here's the steps I took to upgrade through yum:

yum update
yum clean all
wget http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...9-2.noarch.rpm
wget http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...0-1.noarch.rpm
rpm -Uvh fedora-release-9-2.noarch.rpm fedora-release-notes-9.0.0-1.noarch.rpm
yum update -y
rpm -e -vv passwd-0.73-1.i386
yum update passwd
rpm -e -vv compat-db-4.5.20-3.fc8.i386
yum update compat-db
yum update -y just to make sure everything was set.

Still nothing!!!! Can anyone give me some help on this matter?!! Am I doing something wrong? Any and all help would greatly be appreciated. I'm still running FC6 with no apparent problem with FC9 seeming not to be taking.

That's a huge jump. You're probably better off just downloading the FC9 ISO's, backup the data you want and reinstall.

Like I said, who wants to do 11,000 updates. The time it takes to download them I could probably install FC9 100 times..
