So when I upgraded most likely I made the dumb mistake of removing vmware. I upgraded Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04. All the files are still there. I issued the vmware-uninstall.pl script just to wipe everything clean and start over. It said it was successful but I am not so sure it is. I had may have previously installed it with the tar file, can't remember. Now I would like to do it with apt but here is my error read out:
Code:
root@jmckenna-laptop:/home/jmckenna# apt-get install vmware-server
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package vmware-server is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package vmware-server has no installation candidate
root@jmckenna-laptop:/home/jmckenna#
I have this line in my source list file:
deb
http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu hardy partner
According to the error it's my source but it seems to me to be a dependency issue. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...
