upgrade glibc 2.2.4
 

I try upgrade the rpm -Uvh glibc-2.2.4-25.src.rpm, it seem install properly; but I find the version still keep the old version (rpm -q glibc). Why?

Also I try rpm -Uivh glibc...**, it is same result!

I try restart the machine and see the version again, it same!

I need upgrade the jdk50 , so i need upgrade it.

You have installed a source rpm which is meant to be rebuilt into a binary or to allow you to access the source code of the package. You should install rpms that do not contain *src.rpm.
