I have FC1 working fine and was considering migrating/upgrading to FC2. This may be a naive question, but can I assume that migrating from FC1- to FC2 is a simple process of following the promps during FC2 install. Is my existing settings and data retained from FC1??? I'm particularly considered about SAMBA and print sharing. Any pitfalls to be aware of?

It is very dangerous to simply install a new distribution on top of your old distribution, regardless of what the new and old distributions are. A much better way to upgrade is to install the new distribution to its own partition and dual boot the old and new distributions until the new distribution is stable. During the dual boot period you can copy your data from the old to the new distribution as you get each application working on the new distribution.
