Updating Xorg using yum ( or other internet repos )
i was trying to get the latest version of Xorg however the website is really messed up as there are no rpms and no clear cut instructions on what packages are required to compile from source so i was wondering if it would be possible to download it using the yum repos in fedora or the urpmi repos in mandriva ??
how can you be asking wether you can use yum or urpmi?? you need to use the right tool for the distro you are using. and well yes that's exactly what yum and urpmi are for... i don't understand what your question really is... Complining Xorg-x11 from source is generally horrible either way. stick to pre built packages if you can.
Xorg doesnt have any packages sadly, not for the more recent ones. i mentioned yum and urpmi because i use fedora and mandriva, read my Distribution list mate, i know which is the right tool for the right distro. anyway, the questions still remains un-answered. can i simply install Xorg using yum/urpmi on fedora/amdriva by simply typing say : "yum install xorg" ??? ( that doesnt work though )
