Updating Suse

When ever I try to update Suse- it comes up with an error:

Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Public.ZenException: Failed to lookup resolvable with id '30235'

Any ideas?

I've had the same issue. After pursuing the issue on suseforums.net, I found that it is a somewhat common problem. Apparently it's a bug that will (hopefully) eventually be fixed.

In the meantime, you might want to use APT as an alternative.

Here's the fix::

http://andreasjaeger.blogspot.com/20...kages-for.html

I used it on 32 and 64 bit systems and except for a recurring dhcp update bug, it works just fine now.

I haven't had a chance to try leandean's solution yet but I did install apt. When I type "apt update" does it update the OS? Kaleb

apt-get update: This simply doesn't do an update. I can't remember exactly what it does. Something about updating some list of something.

What you want is: apt-get upgrade

apt update -- This goes out and updates your local cache to know what packages are available and where to get them from.
apt upgrade -- This actually does the upgrades

man apt for more info
