Updating RPI2 Firmware when OPENELEC won't boot

Hi guys,

Anyone know of a method to update the firmware for the rpi2 as I am getting an error: error in mount_storage...............

Googling this tells me that to resolve this I need to update the firmware on the rpi2 but as OPENELEC doesn't get as far as booting I cannot use HEXXEH's rpi-update tool.

Is there a way to merge in the files downloaded from the HEXXEH RPI-Firmware git page into the image file I have downloaded for openelec ?

I have been able to examine the content of the image using 7zip but you cannot drag and drop files from your local computer into the image.

Can anyone assist me with this (I do have a Fedora 22 machine if it would be easier to do using this).................

I am currently on a windows machine (WIN7)

I managed to fix this by downloading the non image tar file from openelec and the latest hexxeh rpi firmware merged the two with files where necessary and then used the create_sdcard script which worked a treat.
