Updating and install issues

I have looked over and over but i am not sure if there is such a thing all i have been able to find was gnome meeting but this application has taken me to the breaking point i have tried installing it but there are like 15 dependency problems i am having one of the main problems is getting Gnome 2 I know i am new to this and i would really appreciate some help i have seen some people here who already have gnome 2 woes. I reently downloaded and installed gnome 1.4 from the Ximian site i tried updating to gnome 2 from there but they mention on a link that the files that are available for gnome 2 may and moy not one i try to install them has anyone tried using red carpet for all of their updating? If so i would like to know what you think about it because when i went to the install page of the red hat channel i could even begin to count the amount of dependencies that were listed. Why is this and how can this problem be resolved?

It looks there are Gnome2 packages for RH (ftp.gnome.org).
When installing Gnome packages manually, you need to install them in order. The right order you can find in Gnome documentation (it's long, because Gnome has many packages and many other packages need to be upgraded).

Well this is my question i took a look on red carpet and it gave the files i needed to install but after selecting them it told me that there were like 20 files that needed to be removed because they were going ot cause conflicts. Now when i tried ot proceed it gave me a warning saying that considering the amount of files being removed i should know what i am doing.

Is this a stable means of installing gnome 2? Why is ask this is because they give me these files from Gnome 2.0 developer snapshots.

Can i use this to install gnome 2?

Also one more question if by some miracle I am able to get gnome 2 up and running will all of my dependency problems be resolved such as though with gnome-meeting and the compling of mplayer from the source?

There is always the 8.5 version of gnomemeeting that runs on previous versions of gnome. It is available at the gnomemeeting site.

I have been using it without any real problems.
