up2date/synaptic problem: they think I have Mozilla 37:1.7.2-0.2.0

I'd like to update my Mozilla, but both up2date and synaptic think that I presently have Mozilla 37:1.7.2-0.2.0 installed.

Yes, you read it right: version 37!!!

I have no clue how the "37:" got inserted in front of the 1.7.2 (which is really my installed version of Mozilla).

Can anyone tell me how to edit a file or something so that up2date and synaptic know what version of Mozilla I really have?

why dont u uninstall the mozilla u have on ur comp... and go for a fresh install..

#rpm -iq mozilla

will give u the version u have..

#rpm -ev mozilla

should uninstall mozilla

#rpm -ivh mozilla_latest.rpm

to install the latest mozilla..

A suggestion.. Try Firefox .. it has lotsa features and plugins.. which make browsing a great experience...

Synaptic: bad data file?

I definitely prefer Firefox!

I just uninstalled Mozilla, but Synaptic tells me that the current version is 37:1.7.3. I'm still wondering how to get Synaptic (and up2date) to recognize that the "37" is screwy.
