up2date is no longer active for RH9 that is your problem. best to get a new distro like fedoraC2 (it will be live in 1 month) or mandrake, slackware, what ever.

you can also manualy download the RPM list off RH web page, i think that is still active, but i am not sure if it is there or not. if not, just find the files you want to update, download their rpm and

rpm -Uvh filename.rpm

and upgrade it from there.

It's true... support for RedHat 9 has stopped -- no more Up2Date for RH9.
But... your RPM command should still work. (unless I misunderstood your post)

Does the rpm command still work ?
By typing the following command, a list of RPMs should appear on your screen.
Code:
rpm -qa

RH9 up2date works btw....

i don't know what your talking about, i just ran up2date and it connected, downloaded and installed for me just fine.... the only complaint i have right now is that there was an set of options that i was given the first time i ran it, one of them was to save the rpms locally which is what i'd like it to do now (so that i can burn a cd of the updates).... anybody with any ideas on that ?

in the meantime, as of May 25, 2004 i have a new RH9 installation and up2date running just fine....

Code:
[ray@localhost ray]$ cd /var/lib/up2date
[ray@localhost up2date]$ ls
[ray@localhost up2date]$ cd /var/lib/rpm
[ray@localhost rpm]$ ls
Basenames __db.003 Installtid Provideversion Sha1header
Conflictname Dirnames Name Pubkeys Sigmd5
__db.001 Filemd5s Packages Requirename Triggername
__db.002 Group Providename Requireversion
so if i empty the /var/lib/rpm dir of those files ill have access to up2date again for RH9?
