up2date and media player
 

First (hopefully easy) Q is that after installing media player, I am unable to find it anywhere. During installation, the shell of the player came up but then froze. Now when i try to install the package, I am told its already installed! I tried searching under various names, but no good.

Second, after using up2date and downloading the new kernal whenever i launch up2date, I am told t restart the computer as the new kernal is installed but not active. No matter hpw many times I restart, the darn thing wont implement.
Any ideas??

what player?!?!

no longer a good idea to use the media players that distros nistall for you as they delioberatly tend to cripple them now. download http://mplayerhq.hu and install it yourself for full features.
