I am currently banging my head against a number of strange issues to do with running Linux on my Intel based Macintosh (Macbook Pro 17")
Most everything important has been hacked out by various gurus and I have benefited from their blogs, wikis and forum posts.
What I am finding is that there is not a great deal of information about how LILO works with EFI and especially how I can go about clean reinstalling my lilo config on my linux partition.
A particularly strange problem appeared when I added boot=/dev/sda to the global section - previously I had only reference to boot in the actual kernel sections:
now, after I reinstalled lilo simply by executing /sbin/lilo I find that when I boot there appear two lilo boot entries in my EFI boot manager...
sda and sda3
both worked just fine until I started to try and remove (read break
I did various lilo -u and lilo -U and even dd's and ultimately rm -f /boot/boot.0803 type things but no matter what I do these two sections remain (albeit they might not boot until I reinstall lilo with lilo -b)
anyway - I have been searching and reading man pages but there is not a lot around on this and my background is with grub anyway so I want to work out how to remove the entire lilo configuration and disk records without blowing away the entire partition.
Any assistance most appreciated.
