Unhappy Unreal Tournament 2k3 - keyboard and mouse go goofy

Please forgive me as I am a to Linux, but so far I love it! But I am asking for help on a very odd problem. I had searched Google using various parameters and didn't come up with anything apart from a couple of Linux reviews which lambasted the install process but said the game worked fine otherwise. (which was understandable, I had a couple of minor problems but I was able to resolve them.)

Basically, Unreal Tournament 2003 will start out fine but I notice I can't look up or down when I am jumping. As I play, I eventually run into a significant problem - the computer acts as if my bot is looking downward. I must hold the "look up" key while moving the mouse up in order to look up again and hold that position. When I release the "look up" key, I proceed to look downward again. I have to kill the bot in order to regain control, and even that doesn't help.

This had happened to me once in the original Unreal Tournament, but the problem is far, far worse in 2K3. But I wonder if the problem is related to my OS or distro?

(to date, I have had no other s/w problems in Linux)

These problems did not happen in Windoze XP.

HW/SW specs:

SuSE Linux 8.2
Win4Lin v4 with NeTraverse enabled kernal

Asus A7V333 mobo rev 1.4
AMD Athlon 2100@2700
1 GB DDR2700 CAS2.5 RAM (according to the label sticker, but the imprint on the chips themselves suggest they are CAS2 and I had burned in my system at CAS2 for 72 hours with no problems).
Western Digital 40GB hard drive.
SB Live! sound card
BFG Asylum GeForce 4600 video card
Mad Dog 16X DVD-ROM Drive
Philips CDRW 4000 CD-RW Drive

Thanks!!!

It happened to me...

Hi there. I have no problems with the UT2003 demo, using a standard PS2 keyboard and wheel mouse, BUT the exact same problem you describe happened to me with the original Unreal on windoze, so I suspect it's to do with the Unreal codebase. I managed to get rid of it somehow (by pressing random buttons until it respected my auhorotaaah!) I believe it was one of the strafe or muselook modifier keys that did it in the end. Also, pressing them accidentally also caused the problem to start again.

I'll see if I can get UT2003 to do it then tell you how...

Hope this helps!
