unmet dependencies
Hello All,
I cannot install anything on my Debian system, because of the following : Code:
# apt-get install locales Code:
# dpkg -i libc6_2.11.3-2_amd64.deb PS. # cat /etc/apt/sources.list # # deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.4 _Squeeze_ - Official amd64 CD Binary-1 20120128-13:42]/ squeeze main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.4 _Squeeze_ - Official amd64 CD Binary-1 20120128-13:42]/ squeeze main deb-src http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian squeeze main contrib non-free deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main |
The problem is that you are trying to manually install an Ubuntu package rather than installing from the Debian Squeeze repos using aptitude, apt-get, synaptic, etc.
Code:
apt-get -f install |
thank you snowpine for the quick reply,
i google for that and i am afraid of doing that as this is what comes up, is there any chance that i lose any settings configured on this box as many users use it? : Code:
# apt-get -f install |
Yup, that looks pretty bad. :( My advice is to wait for advice from one of our resident Debian experts like craigevil.

Remove any Ubuntu packages you installed.
Also check your sources.list, at one point you either added Ubuntu repos or manually installed Ubuntu packages. Do not install Ubuntu packages on Debian unless you want a broken system. At this point your system is broken you would probably be better off reinstalling. |
That was fast! :)

Thank you All,
the case is that I installed manually Ubuntu packages (it was morning with no clear mind at all), because I didn't had any connection to the Internet, now I am using a proxy by ssh-tunneling. How can I see the installed ubuntu packages ? Many Thanks. * libc was for sure :( |
ok, found it :)
the issue is now that when i am trying to remove the packages, i get the following : # dpkg -r libc-bin dpkg: warning: 'ldconfig' not found in PATH or not executable. dpkg: 1 expected program not found in PATH or not executable. NB: root's PATH should usually contain /usr/local/sbin, /usr/sbin and /sbin. how can i surpass this ? |
this looks very promisising : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-libc6-176619/
