Uninstalling/removing a bad make
 

Hi, I've done a search on this and I can't find it having been addressed previously so I'm gonna ask.

First, I'm pretty much a n00b. I've been dinking around with various distros for about a year, but not really done a lot of hard-core learning.

My situation is that I found an "Unoffical Samba HOW-TO" on-line. I was attempting to follow these instructions (which appeared to be working fairly well) when I essentially got kicked out of the 'make install' process with a message that my partition was full. I checked /usr with du and sure enough, it was full. I had originally partitioned that filesystem to be approx. 1GB, thinking this was enough. Questioning some folks around here, I hear that it should be plenty for what I want to do.

Prior to this, I would just re-install the entire OS, making the partition larger to accommodate. But I don't think that's either a good or effective solution in this case. What I want to do is remove the "bad" make of Samba 3.0.0 and attempt to do it again. I have tried 'make uninstall' but there are apparently no rules to do that with this version of Samba so it won't go, either. I really don't want to do the cheesy thing of copping out and reinstalling the OS and using the default (non-Active Directory-compatible) version of Samba that comes with it.

Okay, I've rambled long enough that I've confused myself on this. I think. So, if you have an answer or solution, please reply. If you MAY have an answer or solution, but need more info, please ask and I'll try to help you help me.

If you run through the make process again, it should overwrite the bad files, as long as no locations have changed (you haven't moved the files). Worse case scenario just delete the directory and re-tar it. That way you can be sure that nothing is corrupt in your make process.
