Uninstalled ubuntu wrongly, need to reinstall so i can use my computer
I deleted the partition that had my copy of ubuntu on it, to free up space and since i rarely used it (no offence but as a gamer, linux is somewhat lacking compared to windows, purely the game developers fault i agree) but i forgot about grub, now when i start my computer grub gives me error 22, the standard solution is to use a windows backup disk, which i don't actually have.
So i came to the idea that ill just reinstall linux since i dont actually need to go into windows to do that, and i went about making a USB drive into an installer thingy, and now, when i plug it in and tell it to boot from the drive it tells me there's "no bootable partition" on that drive.
This is causing me a lot of stress, this laptop im using at the moment is my sole other computer, it has no disk drive, and isn't remotely powerful enough for the kind of things i need a computer for.
Has anyone either a solution to my core problem or a solution to my "no bootable partition" problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly how did you make your "installer thingy"? Did you use unetbootin? pendrivelinux? something else?
You are booting from the usb/flash drive, right?
If you don't have an xp installation CD, you probably won't be able to reinstall windows bootloader to the mbr. Recovery disks (if you had one) usually don't have the necessary files from what I've read. You could create a small partition 5-6GB for Ubuntu and use Grub. You should also be able to repair the mbr with a W98 startup disk if you happen to have one lying around?? or possibly borrow an xp install CD to repair the mbr.
Yeah i read about that, my problem however is that this laptop has no disk drive, so i cannot burn that recovery disk and i wasn't given one when i bought that computer or this one (why give a recovery CD with a computer with no disk drive)

I used unetbootin
I have actually got windows vista on my computer, and i read that they do actually have the files, i simply dont have any windows disks at all.
So, i put a windows repair disk onto the memory stick, ran it and it worked fine, however, /fixboot and /fixmbr seem to have done absolutely nothing, would an all out windows install disk on a usb drive make a difference or is it just generally screwed?
