uninstall mozilla 1.6 (installed from mozilla-installer)
I installed mozilla 1.6 in /usr/local/mozilla using the mozilla-installler . . . I run it and its fonts were so crappy. Now, I want to uninstall 1.6 and install the mozilla 1.4 from my original Fedora Core 1 CD.
How can I uninstall mozilla 1.6? I searched everywhere and I couldn't find the solution. I didn't install it using rpm so rpm -e won't work I don't think I install it from source, so make uninstall won't work what should I do ? |
IIRC, there are about three directorys that moz installs stuff into doing a find will tell you which ones. Just delete all the moz specific stuff. You might want to give Opera a try, it is much better than moz, IMHO. The new ver (7.5 P1) is pretty awesome.

Just deleted everything related to mozilla ??
Are you saying that I should just type "whereis mozilla" and delete the whole dir ? This method isn't very clean . . .isn't it ?? Is there any cleaner method ? From now on, I'll only install program in RPM format . . . installing from other format (source, whaterver) is so hard to manage. |
the cleaner method if you didn't change any filepaths when installing mozilla from the installer is to just delete /usr/local/mozilla. if you want to use the older version of mozilla and keep your user settings, just delete the above directory and install moz1.4 with the mozilla 1.4 installer. your user settings are in ~/.mozilla so if you wanted to totally delete mozilla and never use it again, you could clean out the hidden mozilla directory.
