undelete vfat directories using linux

this ones been bugging me for a while. when i first mounted my harddrive, i didn't mount it as read only. an error i will never repeat. so i clicked and dragged the mounted folder and linux started copying files to the main hd. i hit cancel and it started deleting the copied files. I look back and it is also deleteing the original files. there is one directory i need back, and it contain folders full of about 60 gb of video from varius projects. tremendous loss for me. i don't care about getting back any og the windows files deleted because i recently made a back-up of al my software. and it was getting time for a reinstall anyways.

so if anyone knows how to recover my data with a nice program, i would be very thankful. if not, please suggest a good company that does data recovery. ( hopefully cheap and reliable enough)

If it's a VFAT filesystem, can you just mount the disk under Windows and use one of the many Windows undelete utilities? I haven't used any of them myself, but I see there are plenty around, both free and commercial.
