Unable to use XMMS

I've finally been able to install XMMS after doing an update with http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ to my package manager.

But when I run XMMS it opens with no problem but when I click on a song to play it used to close on its own [disappear from the desktop. Now instead, it's just freeze there with no sound, nothing and I can't close it.

Any help?

its a little tough to tell without any feedback from the program what is actually going on. try running xmms in a console and then see what happens when it locks up.

What distro are you running? Are there any error messages thrown?

it's playing well so far when I run it from the terminal. But then I closed it and run it fromt he KDE menu and it froze as I press the play button.

I'm using Mandriva 2006. No error message at all, it just stay there frozen. When I try to close it nothing at all...
