Unable to set preferred browser to Firefox: FC3/Gnome

Hello

I chose not to install Firefox when I installed FC3, installing 1.0.2. after installation. It fails to find Firefox as default browser (understandable), but when I use 'gnome-default-application-properties' to set it to '/usr/local/bin/firefox/firefox', it still doesn't work, despite this working from the command line. As a secondary issue, sometimes it will keep deleting the entry that I'm trying to type.

What can I do to set the default browser?

Thanks,
Steve :)

You used search to find the path to the application and you are root when you do these things and they still don't take?
