unable to set a site root directory in apache
Hi all, I'm going thru the O'Reilly Apache 3rd edition book and am having trouble manually assigning a root directory for the server.
According to the book, typing in the following should start up apache with something other than the "default" server root directory:
httpd -f /someDirectory/conf/httpd.conf -d /somedirectory/
Running this command starts Apache fine, but it does not reset the root directory. Instead, the root directory is the "default" directory, and running lynx http ://127.0.0.1 results in the infamous "Hey it worked!" yadda yadda Apache default web page that is in my /apache/htdocs folder, when it should be my /somdirectory/ folder.
Did I do something wrong when I compiled so that I can't use the -d option with the httpd command? Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
