Unable to read config file............

I have webmin and trying to run Proftpd. When I enter the command /sbin/service proftpd start I get a error saying that it failed because I couldnt read the config file. Any ideas on why?

that there's no config file? /etc/proftpd.conf i'd guess at...

is the file located at /etc/proftpd.conf? if not you can use the "-c" and speficy where the config is, that is if you have it located elsewhere..so something like
/usr/sbin/proftpd -c /home/myconfig.conf

well if you want to see if it is running you can type:
ps -aux|grep proftpd
and you'll see it say "proftpd (accepting connections)"

and the only way to really see if the ftp is up and ready to accept users, is to make a user/pass to log into the ftp after you fire it up, and see if you can log in, and if you can log in, see if you can download..

I did the command <ps -aux grep proftpd> and I get "ps error: User name does not exist.

Like I said I am new, I don't know how to make the straight up and down line. Sorry for being stupid but I only know the forward and backward slash. Hell I don't even know 1/4 or the keyboard shortcuts, I never use them. LOL
