I'm running suse 10.0 and have installed various dvd players including xine, kaffeine,RealPlayer and Totem however, when I try to play a dvd disc, I get this Waring Msg:
Waring: This versiion of xine lacks support for playing dvd disc for legal reasons.
xine: cannot find input plugin for MRL
xine: input plugin cannot open MRL
xine: found input plugin: DVD Navigator.
I know suse cannot bundle dvd plugins with their distro due to legal restrictions. I have been advised to download and install the MRL plugin myself. I'm new to linux so I need to know if I have to uninstall all these dvd players, install the plugin and reinstall the players. If the plugin is not in rpm form how do I install it. In other words can someone be kind enough to show me step-by-step process on how to accomplish this task. Thanks in advance
Check for rpms for libdvdcss2 and essential codecs from Suse or Mplayer site. German law does not permit Suse to install those packages or tell you how to.
Check LQ Suse forum for what sites include the needed pkgs. Good luck.
