I am using FC5 and have just installed totem-xine but just am not able to figure out why the DVD isn't playing. Just keeps giving the messge "totem cannot play this type of media (%s) because you do not have the " "appropriate plugins to handle it"
What plugins is it referring to? How do I know if it is installed or not? Also, What are Codecs? How do I know if it is installed?
I am quite new to Linux and just learing. A bit of patience and step by step instructions would be much appreciated.
There are a few things that you need to install to make this happen. Rather than list them here I refer you to one of the best sources for FC setup/configuration, www.stanton-finley.net Stan has a wonderful web site for those in need of FC help. I've followed his advice many times. Also check out www.mjmwired.net That site is another absolute necessity for setting up your Fedora Core system. On either site make sure you are looking at Fedora Core 5 help and not Fedora Core 6 help as there may be slight differences.
