Unable to load any usable fontset ghostview (gv)

I recently got a new computer and moved from running Slackware 9.0 to Slamd64-current. The fonts are not properly anti-aliased in KGhostview. I thought this might be a problem with KGhostview since they are also not good on Slackware 9.0, so I installed Ghostview (gv 3.5.8) from Slackware-current. However, gv has the same problem on Slamd64, but on Slackware 9.0 it looks great.

When I run gv it gives the following warning:
Warning: Unable to load any usable fontset

I think this is probably indicative of the problem. What do I need to set up for the fonts to be right? I already installed the basic Windows truetype fonts and they look great in other KDE programs. The ghostscript fonts seem to be functional but just don't look as nice as they ought to.
