Unable to install xserver on Redhat 6.`

Hi all,

I want to install xserver on my system( Redhat 6.1) I tried it using yum

# yum groupinstall "X Window System"
Loaded plugins: product-id, security, subscription-manager
This system is not registered to Red Hat Subscription Management. You can use subscription-manager to register.
Setting up Group Process
Warning: Group X Window System does not exist.
No packages in any requested group available to install or update

What should be done in this case.

You need to register your service with Redhat. If you don't have a commercial agreement with them you have no business running RHEL in the first place, and should migrate to CentOS which will give you a MUCH better experience than RHEL without RHN, which is horrible. If you're on rhel 6.1 then it's oalready horribly out of date and needs updating sharpish, as CentOS - http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/MigrationGuide

It IS possible to install these older packages from your installation media, but you'll just keep hitting this issue again and again so migrate, and do it properly and you'll be in much better shape.

And also, don't run X on a server in the first place. Just decide you want to do things other ways.

See the part in bold? The solution for that error is simple: CALL RED HAT SUPPORT AND REGISTER/PAY FOR RHEL. That's it. RHEL is NOT free, and it's meant for SERVERS...which typically don't have graphics, bluetooth, wifi, etc. Which is why support is optional for such things, if present at all. If you don't want to pay for RHEL, then stop where you are and load CentOS, which is 99.x% identical, but FREE. Note that you will have the SAME PROBLEMS with running 'consumer hardware' (wifi, etc.), as you would with RHEL. Unless you absolutely NEED RHEL, don't load it...get Fedora, Mint, or openSUSE instead.
