Post "unable to find the dependent module"

i have problem installing linux in my system. Earlier once, i had
installed linux in my system, but this time i failed to do so,

my system configuration
AMD athlon XP 2000+
ASUS motherboard
256 mb DDR RAM
40 GB hard disk
i have RED HAT LINUX 9 with me

i am not able to install through automatic partitioning, as it
is showing error, if iam doing manual partition then iam able to
install linux, but
while booting system is getting hanged at the point
"finding module dependencies"
i had left 7.5 gb of harddisk space for linux, of which i gave 5.0
gb for root and 549 mb for swap

when i took my hard disk to another system i could installed linux
there , and it was working absolutely fine there.

iam having windows XP in my system to which i allocated the rest of
my harddisk space,i want a dual boot system.

any more clarification on the nature of the problem will be
cleared through personal mail
mail me at rejivl143@yahoo.com
