Unable to Boot - FC Core 4

I am having issues booting my system. Below are the boot error and/or messages

Boot/Error messages:

Uncompressing Linux... OK, booting the kernel.
Red Hat nash version 4.2.15 starting

error dup2' ing fd of 0 to 1
error dup2' ing fd of 0 to 2
switchroot: mount failed:22
Kernel panic - not syncing:Attempted to kill init!

Basically, the boot process stopped after it attempted to kill init.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue. I am not sure how it happened.

Did you by chance attempt to upgrade your kernel?

When the system is booting do you get a screen that states something like

Loading Fedora Core with a version number 2.6.15-1.1831. etc....

If so is there more than one kernel version listed.

If that is the case you could try selecting the pervious kernel version.
