is there anyposibility to run Ultra VNC on linux ..... it was originally designed to run on windows .... ??? thanks
nope. why bother? there are plenty of compatible decent native vnc clients & servers.
i installed the one which comes with fedora core 4. the server seems to be working fine :
[root@FEDORA ~]# vncserver
New 'FEDORA:3 (root)' desktop is FEDORA:3
Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup
Log file is /root/.vnc/FEDORA:3.log
i'm able to use vncviewer to connect to my XP desktop. but i cann't connect from XP to Fedora. when i try UltraVnc to connect to fedora , it asks me for a password , i put it and after that nothing happpened ....in other words , the authonetication is correct but the XP machine is not able to do nothing more .....
Can anybody help ?
see what that logfile says. that's what it's there for.
here is the log file :
Sat Nov 5 19:35:37 2005
vncext: VNC extension running!
vncext: Listening for VNC connections on port 5903
vncext: Listening for HTTP connections on port 5803

Could not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID/, removing from list!
what does that means means exactly , where i can control the security policy for the vnc server ??? when i'm trying vncconfig , i'm getting the following :
[root@FEDORA ~]# vncconfig
No VNC extension on display :0.0
i know i missing something simple , thanks
