Uget file downloader - how to remove old entries for files already downloaded?
 

I am using Uget 2.2.2 with Linux Mint 20.2 Uma Cinnamon.

Yesterday I downloaded batches of 30 or 40 files. I am no longer interested in these old entries in the download list, as I have already downloaded them. I want to delete all of them from the list. But I cannot find any way to do this.

Even using the delete command, entry by entry, does not delete them but only puts a red X in front of them.

I cannot find any documentation for Uget anywhere, not even on he Uget website.

I cannot find anything about this on the internet - it just tells me how to uninstal Uget.

you may try to right-click on a file and probably there is a delete menu (delete entry and/or delete file)
also you may try to cd into the download folder and remove files by hand (cli)
But probably you only need to exit/restart uget and those files will be deleted.

Seems like a familiar thing; needing documentation but somehow not being able to find it. Ugets website has a help section where putting "delete files" into the search box brings up:

Two methods...easily found. Very hard to believe you looked at all. Seem to have a problem finding guides for a lot of things:

By guessing I found out how to do it.

1. Click on the "Finished" category from the menu on the left, then click on any file name.

2. Then press the ctrl and A keys at the same time. This highlights all the file names.

3. Then, with the cursor over the highlighted part, right-click and choose "Delete entry" from the pop-up menu. This moves all the highlighted entries into the "Recycled" category.

4. Click on the "Recycled" category from the menu on the left, then click on any file name.

5. Then press the ctrl and A keys at the same time. This highlights all the file names.

6. Then, with the cursor over the highlighted part, right-click and choose "Delete entry" from the pop-up menu. This makes all the highlighted entries disappear.

I wish that conscientious programmers would write the manual first, and then create their program to do what the manual promised. It seems that the program is created, and then a manual is usually not bothered with.

...except that the *VERY FIRST LINK* you were given (to the uget site wiki, which you claimed had no information), had the same CTRL-A command. But congratulations on 'guessing' all those steps.

And conscientious programmers wish that folks would actually read the docs.
