I am not very sure about what you realy mean with the "root" password, I try to help.
1. The Ubuntu does not have a plain old style root user. The first user installed on the Ubuntu is root by default, but it does not have the root priviligue by default. Behaves like MAC.
2. To execute under root priviligue write:
sudo <bash cmd> <options +++>
You will be prompted for password, use the normal password of the first ever installed user.
3. One can also write
sudo su
It will give you the root user priviligue.
Hope it will help.
