I have a new netbook with Ubuntu and wish to use XFCE and not Gnome. The problem is that when I go to uninstall libgnome2 to get rid of Gnome it wonts to uninstall ubuntu-netbook-remix a pcackage that I think is required bu Ubuntu for update purposes.

What do i do now?

Well, you could consider not uninstalling Gnome. It depends on how important the Ubuntu update feature is to you.

I am trying to save space so I use XFCE and don't wont Gnome, But I do need to be able to update things with Synaptic.
Can I use Dpkg to uninstall an application without removing its dependencies?

I uninstalled Gnome and reinstalled that pkg but it had errors and I don't know if it installed right, so I think I should work on stripping down Gnome.
Do you know how to do that?
