Ubuntu integrity problem on a downloaded cd

i just downloaded a copy of Ubuntu. when i tried the live cd portion of the program i noticed that sound was not working so i checked the integrity of the Cd. after the scan it found 21 errors in a file. i am assuming that this is not normal. should i try to download it from a different source or is it my burner that could of caused the problem. i wold hate to have to download it a gain since the first time took so long. any suggestions would be help full. or can these errors be fixed. thanks

Did you verify the md5 checksum on the downloaded iso? Do you still have the original iso image? At what speed did you burn the cd?

If you still have the downloaded iso image, verify the md5. If it's ok, you won't need to re-download. Try burning at a slower speed. I generally use 8x. Makes for a deeper burn, which usually results in an error-free cd.

Cheers

Since the only stupid questions are the ones that are never asked..

..Where did you download the ISO from? If you got it from a torrent/p2p then its possible it could be altered etc. If you didnt already do so, try getting it from the official site

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

As dragonslayer suggested, try burning it at a slower speed and use a recognised burning app such as nero or roxio (if u download the iso onto windows)

Hope this helps

Regards
