Ubuntu Booting Problem
 

Hi,

I have a problem with my ubuntu. When I start my computer and it starts to boot and the Ubuntu loading screen comes up, my comp just freezes and nothing happens, it doesnt start it just stays like that for hours. Any1 have an idea what can i do?

Has it ever worked, or did it just start doing this? Have you changed the hardware at all? Try removing all peripherals, make sure CD drive is empty, just in case boot process is hanging on some piece of hardware. Or try the Ubuntu forum where people might be more familiar with features of Ubuntu boot sequence.

As an emergency measure you can try to boot off a live CD. Depending on your skill level you can then either check and fix the Ubuntu boot configuration, or backup your data and try a re-install.

If you have the chance to select a kernel image before loading actually starts select one labeled (Recovery Mode) so that you see text instead of a splash image. This way you might be able to see what it's hanging on.
