Hi guys! I've recently installed Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) on my computer, and after I after all the drivers to make my NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE work and my WiFi NIC card were installed, I started having frequent freezes while using it normally.
I have compiz-fusion enabled and I didn't use to have this issue at the very beggining of using this ubuntu installation.

Could anyone tell me what is going on? I can't restart neither the X server nor the machine from keyboard as well as changing to any available terminal. The computer turns inoperable and the only way out is performing a reset with the computer's reset button.

Hope someone can help me. I don't want to go back to Winchows.

I'm 99.9% sure its related to compiz-fusion, it sometimes freezes the screen under heavy load on nvidia cards. If you can or know how to you can remotely login using ssh and kill compiz. Your best bet would be to just disable it. I've had limited success getting it back by sticking usb sticks in and doing anything else that "makes it do something".

Don't tell me that!(laughs) I was so happy that with my new nvidia card I was able to enjoy those amazing special effects.

I think I'll use it for a while with no effects to see if that is the problem really. In a couple of days I'll be posting again the results.

EDIT: I had the same freeze in Ubuntu even without compiz enabled. What could it be now?? Clues?
