TV software

heyllo,

i'm looking for a deacent TV software that would be able to capture movie to a (*.avi) file.

I'm using RH8 and KDE3. Tv card is Terratec TValue, it works great with tvtime and xawtv. But i need capturing!

you can capture with xawtv can't you?

mplayer/mencoder is pretty good at doing that if you find xawtv to be limited. Read the mplayer docs on how to do that:

When i'm trying 2 capture video in xawtv i get the following error:

This is xawtv-3.74, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.18-14)
grabbing: not supported

I dunno how to handle this error? Not supported??? huh!

mplayer is better anyway

another one over to the dark side then david? eeeeeeeeeeeexcellent.

MPlayers tv facilities are just about perfect. a pretty recent addition to mencoder / mplayer - well at least the syncronising code - but now it works superbly. xawtv it's worth bothering with for capture, but i still easily prefer it as my viewer

yep, it's hard to tell if it's tv or a playback
