Tunneling Inward to A VPN using ssh
 

Hi Everyone,


Please bear in mind that i am quite new to the linux scene and probably dont know what im asking here.

Ok ive managed to set up an SSH tunnel using putty from my work pc to my home pc allowing me to use VNC on my mandrake box at home.

Is it at all possible to route traffic in the opposite direction once the tunnel is established, so i could access a vnc server running at work from home.

Our internet access is provided to use by the local education authority, each school controlled by the authority is on its own seperate subnet and there are no internet visible ip addresses availiable to us, so a direct connection is not possible.

I think the internet IP address is the same for the whole authority.

Another way of putting it would be, once the tunnel is established - is there any way of routing traffic from both ends of the tunnel

Answered my own q, this was acheivable by using a listening VNC viewer on the remote machine, and using the ssh tunnel to redirect port 5500
