ttyS0 oddity loading Lucent Winmodem

I have just finished loading ltmodem-8.31a10, the Agere/Lucent
Winmodem driver on a slackware 10.2 system. Everything works
as it should; I can query the modem with minicom setting the
serial device to /dev/modem with the soft link /dev/modem -> ttyLT0.

There is, however, an odd log entry when the driver modules are
loaded.
Code:
Loading Agere/Lucent WinModem Controller driver version 8.31
Detected Parameters Irq=5 BaseAddress=0xe400 ComAddress=0xe800
Lucent Modem Interface driver version 8.31 (2004-03-31) with SHARE_IRQ enabled
ttyS0 at 0xe400 (irq = 5) is a Lucent Modem
I don't know why ttyS0 is reported instead of ttyLT0. It doesn't
seem to cause any problems, but is odd and I'd like to know why.

ttyS0 is actually reported at bootup as:
Code:
Serial driver version 5.05c (2001-07-08) with
MANY_PORTS SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI ISAPNP enabled
ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
Anyone?

There's often two serial devices for something in linux, see http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/Serial-HOWTO-11.html for more info[URL]
