TTF to Linux fonts

Hi!
I have a true type font, that I would like to use with GD library, but I don't have TTF support for it, is there any way to change ttf to Linux type of fonts (not sure what type they are), so I could use it with GD library? Thanks!

Don't know what GD library is, but all of my Linuces use TTF fonts with no problem.

Look in /usr/share/fonts and you should see folders for various types. (Depending on your distro, the path could be different)

I know, but that library is independent from other applications.

GD is an open source code library for the dynamic creation of images by programmers. GD is written in C, and "wrappers" are available for Perl, PHP and other languages. GD creates PNG, JPEG and GIF images, among other formats. GD is commonly used to generate charts, graphics, thumbnails, and most anything else, on the fly. While not restricted to use on the web, the most common applications of GD involve web site development.

you just hit the shallow end of my knowledge pool.
I can't tell from what you quoted how fonts get into the picture. If it needs fonts, would it not recognize standard formats such as TTF?

No, it needs extra library for TTF, but since it's on a live server, I can't compile anything, thats why only solution would be change the font type so that GD can recognize them.

What font type does it want?????? You said "Linux fonts" earlier, but there is no such thing as "Linux font type"
Common font types include Truetype (TTF), Type 1, and Bitmap

So the server you are accessing has the gd library installed, but is lacking the freetype library (which is used by gd)? That’s a strange setup.
