Trying to install Wine 1.5.21 on Slackware 14 32-bit
I have been looking for a good tutorial on how to install wine on the new version of Slackware, and I cannot find one. The problem I am having is how do extract and install it correctly, I have the file downloaded, it's a .txz file. I made sure to create a new user so I don't have it running on my root user account.

Use this SlackBuild:
http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.0/system/wine/ Grab the new sources, edit the version in the SlackBuild, su - , and compile. |
I am also attempting to install Wine, though version 1.5.20 into Fedora 17 directly.
I've downloaded (( wget)) and extracted (( tar)) the files correctly. (( They are in a directory named "wine-1.5.20". as per the guide. but then I go into the install portion and I get a configure error. no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH See 'config.log' for more details. (( cant find that one)) Any idea's? its supposed to be simple d/l, extract, install. heh........ Best laid plans, ehh?? |
