Trying to Install Citrix Prog N'hood onto a Mandrake PC ( not server)

Hello all!
I am very new to Linux, but i like it i have to say!!
I need a bit of help! I have a Citrix Farm with 3 servers running Win2k. I have just yesterday installed Mandrake 9.1 on a new box and wish to make it a Citrix Client. My problem is i am totally unable to install the ICA Client and Programme Neighbourhood onto the Mandrake box. I have Root privilages but it just won't install. I am seriuosly new to this area and while i have familiarity with some of the Linux commands, would appreciate TOTAL NEWBIE status to be in the minds of those of you generous enough to respond to my query!! I am only Itchin' to get my teeth into the OS cos it looks so good, but until i get the Prog N'bhood on the Mandrake machine all i can do is look at it excitedly, like that of a child at christmas so giddy that they play with the toys box for hours prolonging the excitement!!

In short....HELP!

any responses greatly appreciated
:newbie:

Welcoem to LQ.

I installed it on RH8 and 9 with no problem - what issues are you experiencing with Mandrake?

How are you trying to install it.

The Mandrake Installation.

I got it!! perseverence eh?! I dwnL'd the the latest Client from Citrix, and the proceeded to take a step back. I opened it and extracted to a designated dir. From here I ran the install command through the CLI and lo and behold the damn thing worked! I was sure i had done this previously but was obviously missing some small procedure! Either way, I now have the entire client running on the machine. I do have a few other questions if you are feeling up for it?!

At the moment i have a citrix client icon on the desktop with the various published apps and remote desktops present, but I would like to have the same prog neigh icon that is usually installed on Windows D/tops. Any ideas?

Also when I open the Citrix Client Icon, it tells me:

" unable to update configuration information. The remote server may be down, the configuration file location may be invalid or the configuration file may contain virus' "

I click OK and it proceeds to ask me for a URL? I just cancel and choose View / go to / connection view and all my apps etc. return.

Obviously i don;t want my users to have to go thru this mess. Ideas would be great!

Finally, on opening the client, there seems to be an issue with a number of windows opening up forcing you to flick between them in order to find the Citrix desktop! Is this simply a Linux thing?

If you can help in anyway with the above queries I would be most appreciative.

Many thanks

To get the icon just create a screenshot or use an icon grabber to get the image then save it as a png. Right click the icon on your desktop, click the icon and browse for the png you just created.

I'm not sure about the update as it didn't do that to me. Perhaps it is an autoupdate setting somewhere - I know that the clients are capable but don't know where to set it.

As for the window thing I'm not sure what you mean - which window and what is in front of it?

The Citrix desktop screen seems to open but then when i click ok for seemless session i revert somehow back to the actual KDE desktop ??!! all i have to do is then click on the correct minimised window to bring up the full screen Citrix enviroment, just wondered if this was normal?

Thanks for the screen shot info, but I don;t quite know how to do this? I mean, is it simply the prnt screen button, or is there a specific way to do this in Linux?

cheers

BAz

It doesn't seem normal but I can't think why it would happen.

As for the screenshot - I meant do it in windows so you can capture the picture of the icon.
