Trying to get WoW to work with wine...
I'm having trouble getting WoW working. 3d only renders in green.
here's what I mean: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98.../snapshot1.png It soon craps out with an error: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98...r/wowerror.png after it closes the terminal window displays this: err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0xc52084 "?" wait timed out in thread 0015, blocked by 0009, retrying (60 sec whatever that is... Sound doesn't work either but first thing's first ;) I am running Gentoo with KDE My specs are An athlon x2 4800 Radeon x1800 Using the proper ati proprietary drivers (I've tested 3d acceleration with tuxracer, that game runs beautifully) Sblive 24-bit What stupid thing did I overlook this time? Tell me if I'm leaving relevant info out, please. Thanks all |
if you can dish out 5 buxs a month, cedga would probally make your gaming life on linux much easier, being that they do all the legwork to making wine work with 3d.
|
No need to pay for legwork, but that's just my opinion.
tike, is DRI working normally (without wine) have you run a glxgears test? regards, ...drkstr **edit** eep, sorry just read the last part of your post. This is what got me working, let me know if yous till have problems after reading it: http://http://appdb.winehq.org/appvi...VersionId=4031 |
to drkstr:
I couldn't visit http://http://appdb.winehq.org/appvi...VersionId=4031 My question is you got wow working in linux with wine? If so ,I do want to read this article. Please send the articla to me haitiking@hotmail.com .Thx in advance. |
Hmmm, yes, how strange. I just copied and pasted the link from the url bar but your're right, doesn't work. You can get to it real easy though. Just go to the wine appdb page http://appdb.winehq.org/
WOW is on the first page in the top 10 gold list. That link has everything you need to know about getting wow working with wine. regards, ...drkstr |
Ok, I know what the problem is by (gasp) doing a forum search! Whodathunk. I didn't apply the patch that it talks about in the guide for wow to the source of wine. The fbconfig fix. My question is, emerge compiles and installs all the source code for you. So how would I apply the patch to the source with emerge?
|
To tike : it's seems that you are runing a gentoo?
|
Crap, I'm sorry. I didn't realize I didn't mention I was running gentoo.
Well, I was able to apply the patch. Still doesn't work. When I run it, it shows this error: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98.../wowerror1.png and the terminal window displays this: fixme:advapi:SetSecurityInfo stub fixme:powrprof:DllMain (0x7bff0000, 1, (nil)) not fully implemented fixme:ntdll:NtPowerInformation Unimplemented NtPowerInformation action: 11 fixme:powrprof:DllMain (0x7bff0000, 0, (nil)) not fully implemented fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34eeec,0x00000000), stub! fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_GetDeviceCaps Caps support for directx9 is nonexistent at the moment! fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f458,0x00000000), stub! fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f6f8,0x00000000), stub! fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f6f8,0x00000000), stub! fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 113 (SPI_SETMOUSESPEED) fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 113 (SPI_SETMOUSESPEED) fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 113 (SPI_SETMOUSESPEED) fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 113 (SPI_SETMOUSESPEED) fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f168,0x00000000), stub! fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 112 (SPI_GETMOUSESPEED) fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 113 (SPI_SETMOUSESPEED) fixme:sync:CreateIoCompletionPort (0xffffffff, (nil), 00000000, 00000000): stub. fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_TIMEOUT (5000): STUB fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_SEND/RECEIVE_TIMEOUT not supported on protocol 4 fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONTEXT_VALUE; STUB fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 113 (SPI_SETMOUSESPEED) Don't know what any of that means, I hope someone can help me. tihs might just be my config file, but doom 3 doesnt work either so i dunno |
What did you do to apply the patch? Could you list the specific commands? Am I to assume that you scraped emerge and compile directly from source?
...drkstr |
I added epatch /home/tike/Desktop/x11drv_fbconfig_fix-0001.bin to /usr/portage/app-emulation/wine/wine-0.9.21.ebuild, I didn't compile it from source myself.
BTW: It's very appropriate that the config dir for WoW is called "WTF" |
I would try building as it is stated in the guide. Otherwise, there's no way to know you did it the same way others that got it working (such as myself) is the same.
let me know if you need help compiling from source. regards, ...drkstr |

What configure options did you use? You will probably need to specify the paths. use ./configure --help to get a full list of options.
