Trying to find some software...

I want to write a program in C++ with my friend over the internet. I'm looking for some software that can let two people interact with an X window over the internet, kind of like kibitz, but a GUI version. Basically let us both edit the file at the same time in a nice, graphical setup. Do you guys know of anything like this?

what is vnc?

ok. nvm. But it says that it's basically a remote desktop system, meaning he could control the program on my computer, but could I control it too?

Sure. You could also configure it so that he can watch, but not move your mouse or enter keystrokes.
