Trying to edit a .spec file in vim (E212: Can't open files for writing)

when i am going to edit vim rpmbuild/SPECS/test.spec dat its showing (E212:Can't open files for writing) so what to do plzzzzzzz help

Hi,

This error (E212) tells you that you do not have permissions to (over)write the file you are trying to edit. The file probably isn't owned by the user that runs vim.

BTW: You can get more details on a Vim error by typing (in command mode) :help ERRORNUMBER.
:help E212 would show you the following:

Quote:

Cannot open "{filename}" for writing
Can't open file for writing

For some reason the file you are writing to cannot be created or overwritten.
The reason could be that you do not have permission to write in the directory
or the file name is not valid.
