[SOLVED] trying to comile a program but I get a scons error

I'm trying to compile a program from the official source code but when I want to use the scons command to be able to use a function I really need I get this error:

~]$ scons

scons: *** No SConstruct file found.
File "/usr/lib/scons/SCons/Script/Main.py", line 905, in _main

I searched google but I couldn't find an applicable solution.

SConstruct is to scons as Makefile is to make. If there is no SConstruct file for the project, then you can't use scons to build it.

Thanks for pointing that out.
I actually first didn't understand why I had no such file but it seems I have to compile with 'waf'.
It was in another version of the software that there was a SConstruct file included but not in this one. (a silly mistake

)
