trpuble acsessing HTTPS sites in opera on SuSE 10.1

every time i try to acsess an https site in opera on my suse 10.1 system i get the folowing error...

Make sure your Internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working.

Check that the setup of any Internet security software is correct and does not interfere with ordinary Web browsing.

If you are behind a firewall on a Local Area Network and think this may be causing problems, talk to your systems administrator.

Try pressing the F12 key on your keyboard and disabling proxy servers, unless you know that you are required to use a proxy to connect to the Internet. Reload the page.

this works propally from both firefox and konqueoror...
though firefox dousent like most https pages if you navagate there via a click or web redirection
gmail being a case in point
any ideas as to a solution to this?

What version of opera do you have? There are known https issues with older versions of Opera, I have not had any https problems in 9.0

thanks fo rthat, i have just upgraded to 9.0 and i can acsess most https: sites,
the only major sticking point is gmail, that still gives me the same error message in opera 9 and in firefox,
yet it works in konqueror (but that hasnt got full feture support)

i know that gmail will work in the same version of firefox under windoze.

am i missing a libary or somthing?

Also for Opera, try identifying Opera as Mozilla when going to gmail, that may do the trick. Wikipedia states that by doing so you can access quick contacts, but as far as it states, everything but spellcheck should work otherwise. I don't use gmail, so I'm unfamiliar with the situation.
