Trouble with "RPM" program after update attempt(FedoraC1)

*Sigh*
RPM had been acting strange lately an I felt I should take it upon myself to update RPM... Now I cannot install any RPMs and am drawing blanks on how to revert back to the older version. Any help/ridicule, etc would be appreciated. The new install was rpm-4.2.1-0.30_19, not sure what version I had before, whatever comes with Fedora Core 1. This Forum has been very usefull in the past, you guys are great!

Not sure that's your problem, but the RPM Packager Fedora C1 uses seems to have a bug of some kind that won't allow for new RPMs... you should update it (check http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=115039)

I can't install any RPMs... RPM is screwed up... Can't even update RPM, is there a way to reinstall RPM without an .rpm?

I suppose (but I'm far from an expert) that you could download the rpm source (the file usually is .src.rpm) and compile it in your machine (using the ./configure, make but make install commands).
